After playing for Poway High and Palomar College, Dave started his coaching career as an assistant coach for the Palomar Women's Volleyball team from 1989 to 1992.
He was the Rancho Bernardo High School Girls JV coach in 1993 and 1994, and in 1993, he was also the Boys Varsity coach.
In 1994, Dave moved over to Poway High where he was the Boys Varsity coach for seven years. While there, his teams were Palomar League Champions three times, CIF Finalists three times, and won the Boys CIF Championship in 1999. In 1999, Dave was named San Diego Boys Volleyball Coach of the Year.
After the 2000 boys season, Dave resigned to pursue a masters degree in education. He continued coaching at Poway High at the junior varsity level and is celebrating his twenty third year of coaching volleyball at his alma mater.
Dave has coached a variety teams at Epic. He has participated as an assistant coach in the girls program, a head coach in the boys program, and he has coached in our local program. He is in his fourth year coaching the 15-3 Girls Travel team.
Dave has a BA in History from SDSU and a Masters degree in secondary education from Grand Canyon University. He is a Social Science teacher at Poway High.
He is married to his high school sweet heart Carma and they just recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. Dave has two daughters in college. Danielle is a at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo pursuing her teaching credential and Alyssa is a junior at Grand Canyon University pursuing a nursing degree.
Dave is known for his ability to run very organized, fast-paced practices. His teams always show improvement throughout the year.
